The end of the year is a time to take stock. So I decided not to stay away. Hence, I have picked my best nine photographs of those I posted on Instagram this year. Note: 1) these photos are the best according to my own opinion; 2) not all of them are new, some were taken even a few years ago but they all were posted exactly during 2019. Now then, the results of the year. First of all, in commercial photography (art ones will be in a couple of days). P.S.: Follow me on Instagram –...
read moreAn interview with me
On the Internet, there’s a crowd-sourcing platform called CityCelebrity which helps artists, designers, photographers, and other creative persons. A couple of days ago, a small interview with me was published on their Instagram. Here it is: 1) What are you striving for as an author? I strive people who’re watching my photographs to feel the same as I did while shooting: sincere admiring of what has been placed into the frame be it beautifully lit gorgeous building or, more often, amazing beauty of nature. I just want to share my emotions. Also, I think that if a person can estimate and understand the beauty in the photograph, he’ll never become a reason for something irreparable in real life. 2) What inspires you? Most of all, nature. And the originality of a moment. The same place can change beyond recognition depending on times of day or season, weather, and, most...
read moreScale models photoshoot
Recently, I finished the processing of several photographs which I took for my friend and amazing modeler Dmitry Skurkis. He has two ready models: one is for gift and another for his own collection. They’re respectively Mercedes-Benz type 320 car… … and German-Czech tank Pz.38T. To my mind, these models are awesome! Separately worth noting that this was far not the first time I photographed Dmitry’s models but the first one when I used my new product photography technique. Especially nice that Dmitry can see the difference and appreciated my work. P.S.: Follow me on Instagram –...
read moreAlcohol beverage photo shooting
Some time ago, I and my wife bought a bottle of our favorite alcohol beverage, a port wine. This time, it was Cockburn’s Fine Ruby. Wonderful beverage! Of course, if you know how to drink it correctly. (I mean, not to drink it warm and shot by shot. The opposite, as it should be drunk: with several ice cubes, doing a little sip, relaxing and getting enjoy.) Plus, I liked its bottle a lot. Already after we finished, I decided to photograph it. Yes, I should have been thought about how to shoot the empty bottle beautifully. And I thought about it several times. Finally, I was ready. Actually, I didn’t want to take an ordinary commercial shot. I wanted to show this bottle in a slight art manner. Honestly, I’m satisfied with the result although I didn’t have the majority of the appropriate equipment. For instance, I had...
read moreThe eluding Golden Autumn
Yesterday, I was sitting at home doing my regular commercial order. At some moment, I look out the window and found the wonderful weather outside: warm and sunny day. I’ve been waiting for such conditions half autumn! In Saint-Petersburg, we had only dull grey skies and rains, rains, more rains so far. And I already thought that the conditions I want will never happen this Golden Autumn. That’s why I immediately grabbed my camera and tripod, jumped into my car, and drove to the nearest park. You know, the main thing that I chase when trip somewhere to photograph isn’t the masterpiece which will amaze everyone. The point is to see the beauty, to take a break in this never-ending running, to feel me alive. Nature is something that never let me down in these intentions. And feelings are overwhelming me while I’m there. They’re just tearing out of...
read moreAbout my granddad
My dad carefully saves his father’s medals. I’ve seen them a lot of times and about a year ago I thought to photograph some. And only now I’ve finally made this thought to reality. My choice was this very medal called “Medal of Patriotic War”. Here I should give some explanations. The point is that in Russia (earlier in the Soviet Union), the Second World War always was conditionally divided on two parts: WWII (from 1st September 1939 till 2nd September 1945) and The Great Patriotic War (from 22nd June 1941 till 8th May 1945) which means that after the Nazi invasion to the Soviet Union territory, WWII became a patriotic war for the Soviet people. That’s why this medal has such a title. That’s my granddad, Leninslav Korovkin (by the way, his name “Leninslav” is quite interesting nowadays although it was very normal in the Soviet Union, and...
read moreA contradictory vacation in Montenegro, pt.2
During the mentioned bus trip almost the whole country around, we saw several places where I dream to come again. If you’ve never been to Montenegro, you should undoubtedly visit any place in the Tara river canyon… …including but not only the Durdevica bridge, Biogradska Gora and Durmitor national parks, and, of course, the Kotor sea bay. What personally I liked the most? I think the Crno Ezero (means the Black Lake), a glacier lake on the altitude of more than 1400 meters above the sea level. There’s a gorgeous silence. I don’t mean a complete absence of sounds of course. I talk about nature’s silence: the sounds of the wind, lake waves, and the seldom cry of birds. I’m not a real new dish lover, therefore, I don’t usually taste anything that never tried. But I strongly recommend you to take the dish called Jagnjetina ispod sača (means...

When in 2011, I and my wife came back home from our first abroad vacation in Croatia, we faced with our different friends’ multiple late advice: “You definitely should have to visit Montenegro!” In response, we both just kept silent because didn’t have anything to say. That was our very first abroad trip and we couldn’t compare it to anything! (Back to that Croatia vacation, I can say that we still recall it as one of the best adventures in our life so far). So, this time, in autumn 2019, we eventually decided to go to well-advertised Montenegro. And what have we liked there? To be honest, just three things: nature, sea (but not beaches!), and national cuisine. From all the places in the World we have visited by now, I would place Montenegro somewhere in between Croatia and Turkey. What do I mean? Croatia is one of the...

You may probably know such an international photo community called Viewbug. If not, I will explain it in a few words. That’s a huge community which unites a whole bunch of photographers of different level from around the World. They constantly run photo contests on various themes. Prizes vary as well. From time to time, these are very valuable items such as, for instance, Canon 5D Mark III camera. I can say that it’s quite cool to win any of these contests. A few days ago, I became a finalist of the “Interior Design” photo contest on this website. Yes, the finale isn’t a win, but still, I’m glad! For me, that’s another step further up on the road. P.S.: Follow me on Instagram –...
